Mashups revisited

The mashups that I found through blogger seemed fun and have been added to my list of things to do when procrastinating :D but I hadn't really seen any really useful purpose behind them.

So, while I was wasting time online taking a micropause from my two assignments I came across these nifty and useful mashups:
Google maps + Craig's List = http://www.housingmaps.com/
Google maps + Chicago PD crime database = http://www.chicagocrime.org/

Well.. useful to people in the States. But a New Zealand equivalent would be great. I am beyond abysmal at remembering where the different suburbs are in Auckland and something similar would be invaluable in helping me find that perfect westie bogan flat of my dreams...

That's slightly unsettling, being able to see on a map where people have been murdered. How and why did you find this? And more importantly, why do you think a NZ equivalent would be good? Aye? Explain yourself...

Good to see there is life between assignments. And yes these Flickr add-ons are all very nice, but in our time restrained lives when are we ever going to find the time to actual do anything with all these new toys of the Web 2.0.
